There are various causes of infection – viral or bacterial, moisture build-up, and even yeast infections. Natural remedies for ear infections are considered safe and effective in relieving ear pain due to infection.
1. Essential oils
Lemon oil and lavender oil can be used. The first has analgesic properties and has the ability to relieve pain. Lavender has antibacterial and antifungal properties. In addition to relieving infection, it also reduces pain. Massaging the ear with these oils helps to relieve the infection quickly.
2. Tea tree oil
Placing a few drops of tea tree in the affected ear for a few minutes twice daily or until the pain goes away can relieve the infection quickly. It has antimicrobial properties and is effective against bacteria, fungi, and viruses. It can also be used in combination with olive oil, which also soothes inflammation and irritation.
3. Coconut oil
Liposomal lauric acids found in coconut oil have antimicrobial properties. Coconut oil is also rich in analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties, making it an ideal remedy for ear infection relief.
4. Oil of oregano
Oregano oil is effective in reducing inflammation, swelling, and pain that is due to an ear infection. The oil has antibacterial properties that relieve the feeling of pain and swelling. However, it should be noted that oil of oregano should not be placed in the ear. It can be used to massage the ear, but not to drip drops into it. It should also not be used if you are taking blood thinners.
Signs and symptoms of an ear infection include ear pain, a feeling of fullness in the ear, and hoarseness. Less common symptoms are vomiting and diarrhea. An ear infection can occur anywhere – in the outer, middle, or inner ear. In the first variant, the infection is located in the ear canal, and in the second, the infection is accompanied by swelling and pain. With an inner ear infection, the symptoms are slightly different, as dizziness, vertigo, difficulty with balance, and vision and hearing problems may occur.
